WHO WE ARE

The ELN is an independent, non-partisan, pan-European NGO with a growing network of 180 past, present and future European leaders working to provide practical real-world solutions to political and security challenges.

Through its research, publications, events, practical policy advocacy, media reach and high-level networks, the ELN works to build better security for Europe. It concentrates on what it judges to be the gravest risks to Europe’s security and on the risks where analysis suggests it can make the greatest difference.

THE ROLE

The Development Director will work closely with the Director and Deputy Director to design and implement a fundraising strategy, establishing a structure in how the organisation solicits grants and identifies other funding sources, helping the organisation achieve measurable fundraising targets that will take the organisation to the next level.

The successful candidate will also have the ability to:

  • Think creatively about new partnership structures
  • Produce cases for support and partnership proposals in concert with the Director and Deputy Director
  • Be comfortable at all stages of the donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process
  • Build and manage a portfolio of major prospects and partnerships

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced individual who has successfully held a senior post in fundraising or development, with a proven track record in major donor or corporate giving. This is a part-time position with flexible working hours and is ideal for candidates accustomed to dealing with responsibility and offering advice at a senior level.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

Critical to the success of this position is the ability to engage, review and challenge the ELN’s current fundraising practices. The successful candidate will have proven experience in the field of development and a contemporary understanding of its practices. They will be able to identify potential funders for the ELN and advise senior members on staff on how to approach and secure sponsors, whilst having the skills to develop a broader strategy that will ensure the sustainability of the ELN and its activities.

Persuasive writing, strong verbal communication and the ability to interact at the executive level are other key qualifications for the role.
