Job Details

Permanent, full time (35 hours per week)

Our client believes that people are part of nature and that a healthy, wildlife-rich world is the foundation of their wellbeing and prosperity. They have a mission to secure Living Landscapes and Living Seas and to inspire society to value and act for nature.

The coming months will be an exciting time as significant environmental legislation passes through parliament as the UK leaves the EU. It is a time when our client has a unique opportunity to shape future environmental protections post-Brexit.

As such, they are currently looking for a Public Affairs Officer to join their Public Affairs Team to help build support within the Charity for their position on Brexit to ensure that their environmental legislation is not weakened after they leave the EU. You will help develop relationships with key influencers at Westminster during the Brexit process and ensure that you support the effective promotion of our policies on priority issues and campaigns.

Experience of and a proven track record of working with MPs, Ministers and MEP’s is advantageous, as is experience of supporting successful advocacy campaigns and fronting policies and programmes. You will have an understanding of the legislative process and parliamentary procedures and an understanding of UK and European wildlife and environmental legislation.

Our client is a grassroots movement of 800,000 members, 43,000 volunteers and 2,800 staff across the UK dedicated to their vision and driven by their beliefs. There are 36 Trusts in England, four in Wales and Trusts for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Alderney and the Isle of Man. They have an unmatched presence on the ground helping to inspire millions of people about wildlife every year and managing nearly 100,000 hectares of land. Being part of their movement enables you to make a real difference and they look for people who share their values.

They value courage, respect, integrity, trust and responsibility. Whilst they are passionate in promoting their aims, they are not judgemental, and they are inclusive. Our society is divided, and they want to reduce, not increase, that division.
