Diana Johnson, MP for Hull North, is looking to recruit an experienced Parliamentary Researcher/ Assistant for her busy Westminster office.

Diana Johnson MP is looking to recruit an experienced Parliamentary Researcher/ Assistant. This post will be up to 4 days per week Monday to Thursday. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, friendly Westminster office with a national reputation for campaigning on issues such as the NHS Contaminated Blood scandal and reform of Abortion law. An interest in health matters would be useful to support Diana in her Select Committee work. Diana is also an assiduous constituency MP and needs research support with a range of issues important to Hull, ranging from transport investment to renewables. Previous experience of working at Westminster would be helpful. An ability to work without close supervision, meet fast changing deadlines and use own initiative is vital.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake research from a range of sources
• Draft speeches, articles and correspondence.
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues.
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc.
• Ability to identify campaign issues and keep up to date with policy developments.
• Oversight of APPG groups that Diana chairs.
• Progress policy casework as required.
• Some diary management.
• Project Management as required.
• Provide some general admin support (e.g. liaison with Parliament Tours and Education Services).
• Supervise volunteers/ interns where appropriate.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
