Job Details

Introduction

GDS is helping to redefine how a modern government should serve its citizens. Our work is cutting-edge and award-winning. It is improving the lives of millions of people.

We build and run world-class public services for the digital age. We work in small, agile teams of developers, designers and content specialists. Users always come first and everything we do should meet their needs.

We run government’s online home, GOV.UK, which is visited 3 million times a day. We’re delivering GOV.UK Verify, a new way to prove who you are online. We’re building platforms to make transformation easier for departments - things like GOV.UK Pay, the government payment service and GOV.UK Notify, which keeps people up to date with the status of their interaction with government. This is just some of what we do.

We work for the whole population. And we can only do that by being an inclusive, diverse organisation. We work hard to maintain an open, positive working culture and we were recently named as one of the Top 100 Best Employers for Race by Business in the Community.

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated communications managers to join our communications and engagement team, leading the campaigns that support GDS programmes and services. Through creative and engaging communications we reach a broad range of audiences: from other teams across government, to stakeholders in the private sector, to members of the public who will be able to access government services more easily than ever before.

You need to be an excellent communicator and collaborator with a positive approach to working with people. Someone who is able to work flexibly and communicate complex information simply and clearly. We embody the ethos of the organisation, ensuring that all communications are written in plain English and accessible, putting user needs first.

In return for your commitment and flexibility you will be part of a dynamic and supportive working environment, benefit from great opportunities to learn and develop, and your work will have a significant impact on the lives of millions of people. Successful candidates will be entitled to a range of benefits including a competitive pension , and have access to extensive professional support networks, such as the Government Communications Service.
