POLITICAL AND PRESS OFFICER

(SCOTLAND)

Starting salary: Circa £31,000 with company vehicle

BASC is the largest sporting shooting organisation in the UK, serving a growing membership of over 155,000 and a wide variety of stakeholder and public interests. It acts as a representative body for sporting shooting - fostering opportunity, safety, high standards and wildlife conservation.

BASC is looking for an individual to assist the Director Scotland while working alongside other BASC teams, to educate and inform parliamentarians, including prospective candidates, about shooting sports in Scotland and forge relationships between them and BASC clubs, syndicates and members.

Responsible for liaising with media, head office departments and Director Scotland to ensure all key events receive maximum coverage in both press and social media.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills

Experience of building effective partnerships with politicians

Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to motivate others

Good communication, diplomacy and negotiating skills.

Experience of representing causes to politicians and government backed by understanding of Holyrood and parliamentary processes

Working within a small team and reporting to the Director Scotland the position is based at BASC Scotland and will involve travel throughout the Scotland.
