The BBC Radio Production team in Media City, Salford produce a broad range of programmes across Radio 2, 3 and 4 including 4 Extra and The World Service. They produce programmes such as You & Yours, Brain of Britain, The Daily Service, Pick of the Week, Good Morning Sunday, Heart & Soul as well as around 50 documentaries a year.

They are looking for a Trainee Assistant Producer to join their team for 12 months to experience the range of opportunities across two different departments. After a few weeks general induction, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to train in a number of teams according to individual skills and requirements. This may include helping to produce live or pre-recorded programmes, speech or music programmes, plus factual and drama, as well as a combination of studio-based and Outside Broadcasting. Senior team members will also give support across many different radio networks and on digital output and podcasts to enrich the trainee’s learning experience.

  • Interested in pursuing a career in radio broadcasting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Radio Production’s programmes
  • Brimming with ideas, with a good understanding of what makes engaging listening
  • Enthusiasm for radio and an appreciation of how audiences use digital and other platforms
  • Enthusiastic approach to work and always willing to try new things
