We are the governing body of the Sea Cadets, which gives 14,000 young people a great head start in life through nautical adventure based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy, and Marine Society which supports the personal and professional development of seafarers where ever they are in the world.

We are looking for an experienced, creative and confident Senior Communications Officer to join our busy team of three and help deliver the best profile raising results for our brands through a range of media and PR initiatives.

You will be proactive, with a range of communications experience from managing press launches to developing creative ideas with impact and delivering impressive results to budget and deadline. An experienced communications professional you will be well able to develop and sell in stories to a range of national outlets. Naturally you will have strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to influence positively at all levels and be able to perform under intense time pressures.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and a strong team player who can make things happen. You will ensure we deliver great communications over a range of integrated channels from print to digital that engage, influence and drive the charity’s profile amongst its key stakeholders. You will work with the Senior Communications Officer (Marketing and Digital) and the have a functional line management responsibility for the Communications office along with the other senior. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your skills to help the charity and the team to grow. Ideally you will have a PR qualification but this is not essential.

We offer great benefits such as the opportunity to join MSSC voluntary contributory pension and private medical insurance schemes. Plus we support continuous professional development with a range of opportunities for you to hone your skills.
