In recent years changes to the benefits system have had a huge impact on those of us with mental health problems. Problems with Universal Credit mean that too many people are going without the very basics or facing an uphill battle of forms and appeals just to get the right support. We’re looking for a Policy and Campaigns Officer to help us in our work to change that.
This is a varied and practical role that will involve regularly co-ordinating events, meetings and workshops, as well as helping people with experience of mental health problems to share their views with people in power. This role might suit someone with experience of delivering projects and events who is looking to build their experience in a policy and campaigns role. Knowledge and experience of Universal Credit and the benefits system are desirable, but most essential is the ability and willingness to learn from the experiences of people with mental health problems who have been through the system.
