Following a restructure of his office, Chuka Umunna MP is looking for a motivated and organised Personal Assistant to support the work of his busy Westminster and Constituency offices, with a focus on diary management and administration. This is a new full-time role based in Westminster.

Key tasks:
• Manage the Member's diary commitments.
• Ensuring the Member is fully briefed for all commitments.
• Provide organisational support for parliamentary events.
• Provide a full range of IT, secretarial and administrative support.
• Deal with and monitor all incoming enquiries, responding to emails, letters and phone calls, efficient data and file management. Opening and dispatching mail.
• Deal with a number of matters on the Member's behalf and escalate others; including drafting correspondence on various issues.
• Support the Member in complying with the MPs' expenses scheme and provide budget management support.
• Ensure office records are kept up to date and efficient administrative systems are in place.
• Deal with external suppliers, office orders and invoices. Ensure the office is fully equipped and office supplies are maintained.
• Communicate appropriately with both internal and external contacts, organisations and constituents.
• Undertake photocopying, scanning and formatting of documents.
• Other duties as and when required - including assisting the work of other colleagues.

Person specification:
• Experience of working in a busy and fast-changing environment.
• Experience of diary management.
• Demonstrable political judgement and extensive knowledge of UK politics.
• Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with an eye for detail.
• Excellent communication skills and confident interacting with people at all levels.
• Able to work effectively in a small team.
• Competent use of IT including full proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Sympathetic to the values of The Independent Group.
