Job Details

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life.

The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas.

We are recruiting a Policy and Advocacy Adviser to develop impactful education policy and advocacy strategies and ensure our work is highly visible within the global education sector.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we scale up our work on Girls in Crises with a major focus on girls’ education in emergencies. In this role, you will lead the strategic development and tactical delivery of our education policy and advocacy work in this area, working across the whole organisation to ensure its success. You will also build and manage influential advocacy and policy relationships with Government, NGOs, networks and partners and lead on innovative reports, policy briefings and analysis.

You will have previously worked with the UK Government and political system to influence decision makers on international development and have managed and developed influential relationships. You will also have experience of undertaking policy analysis and producing reports on education and policy briefs.

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.

Closing Date: 15 April 2019
