Greenpeace investigate, expose and confront environmental abuse by governments and corporations around the world. They are looking for an Intern to work with the Mobilisation Team to help manage their social media channels, ensuring they are posting engaging and educational content on their platforms so their communities grow and remain engaged.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

  • Help manage their social media channels (primarily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), encouraging engagement across all platforms
  • Source and create content that appeals to their supporters and create graphics that inspire people to care about the planet and take action on environmental issues
  • Monitor news websites and use tools to identify breaking or popular news stories they should be covering
  • Use data reporting tools (e.g. Facebook Insights and Crowdtangle) to monitor channel and content performance
  • Help respond to comments and questions from supporters on their social media channels

Digital Mobilisation

  • Work alongside the mobilisation team’s digital campaigners in various aspects of planning and running their people-powered campaigns
  • Think of ideas on how to communicate campaign topics to current and new audiences, for example: producing social media graphics and writing blogs
  • Attend mobilisation team meetings and, if you’re comfortable with this, contribute to discussions on their upcoming campaigns

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • An excellent communicator who is interested in how Greenpeace communicate campaigns and complex topics to a wide range of audiences
  • Able to think creatively about how to reach wide ranges of people in innovative ways
  • Passionate about digital tools and how to use them to drive people-powered campaigns and promote positive change
  • Data-driven: you don’t need to be an expert, but have the ability to look at Facebook posts and see what’s performing well (based on reactions, shares and comments) and what successful posts have in common (the topic, post length, image choice, etc.)
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage your own workload
  • Able to demonstrate your support for, and believe in, the aims of Greenpeace
