The High Pay Centre is a progressive think tank working on issues relating to top pay and inequality. We're looking for someone to help out with our events and media programme. It should be a great job for anyone interested in pay and inequality, with good writing skills and creative ideas for how to influence policy. Some experience of working in campaigns/communications would be useful, but the main thing we're looking for is enthusiasm for the issues we cover. Full details below!

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with Directors to plan the publication and dissemination of HPC research and analysis via traditional and new media
  • Writing press releases and other materials for publication relating to pay, work and inequality – in support of HPC research and policy recommendations and in response to external news stories
  • Monitoring UK and international media for developing debates and top pay and inequality, and helping HPC to influence these debates
  • Building networks with key media influencers
  • Managing records of HPC contacts and media coverage
  • Planning HPC’s events programme – working with speakers and venue managers, promoting events and writing marketing materials
  • On-the-day management of HPC events

Person specification:

  • Demonstrable interest in topics including top pay and inequality (essential)
  • Experience of producing compelling communication materials for a political, campaigning or similar organisation (desirable)
  • Experience of policy relating to top pay and inequality (desirable)

Skills:

  • Excellent face-to-face and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skils
  • Planning and organisational skills - excellent time management, ability to prioritise
  • Ability to build working relationships with key stakeholders including policymakers, journalists and other key influencers
