The High Pay Centre is a progressive think tank working on issues relating to top pay and inequality. We're looking for someone to help out with our events and media programme. It should be a great job for anyone interested in pay and inequality, with good writing skills and creative ideas for how to influence policy. Some experience of working in campaigns/communications would be useful, but the main thing we're looking for is enthusiasm for the issues we cover. Full details below!
Key responsibilities:
- Work with Directors to plan the publication and dissemination of HPC research and analysis via traditional and new media
- Writing press releases and other materials for publication relating to pay, work and inequality – in support of HPC research and policy recommendations and in response to external news stories
- Monitoring UK and international media for developing debates and top pay and inequality, and helping HPC to influence these debates
- Building networks with key media influencers
- Managing records of HPC contacts and media coverage
- Planning HPC’s events programme – working with speakers and venue managers, promoting events and writing marketing materials
- On-the-day management of HPC events
Person specification:
- Demonstrable interest in topics including top pay and inequality (essential)
- Experience of producing compelling communication materials for a political, campaigning or similar organisation (desirable)
- Experience of policy relating to top pay and inequality (desirable)
Skills:
- Excellent face-to-face and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skils
- Planning and organisational skills - excellent time management, ability to prioritise
- Ability to build working relationships with key stakeholders including policymakers, journalists and other key influencers
