Lambeth Council's Policy and Communications team are recruiting a Senior Policy & Communications Officer.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Policy Officer to be part of the Leader’s Office at Lambeth Council. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about local government and enjoys working across a range of policy areas and interests. It will be an excellent chance to work with a talented team at one of the country's flagship boroughs.
Reporting to the Head of the Leader’s Office you will be responsible for policy advice, guidance and support to Cabinet Members as well as undertaking analysis of information and preparing reports and briefings for the Leader of the Council on specific policy areas.
We are looking for a capable all-rounder, an individual comfortable working with senior officers and members and someone who understands how councils operate in a complex and fast paced environment. An ability to pick up varied, complex and big profile policy topics is a must, as well as a capacity to produce briefings, guidance and other materials on a short turnaround.
You will need to have a good understanding of local government and the challenges it faces, an interest in policy development and experience in developing and executing effective communication plans.
Experience of successful project management is essential, as are great organisational and written skills. You will also need to have good analytical skills and be comfortable working on a range of different projects concurrently. And you will need to be politically savvy and able to work with political sensitivity and discretion.
