ABOUT THE Ri AND THIS NEW ROLE

Since 1799, the Royal Institution (Ri) has been at the forefront of engaging the public with science. Our mission is to build on our heritage to create opportunities for everyone to discover, discuss and critically examine science and how it shapes the world around us.

Across the world, technology and science are advancing rapidly; how to engage the public and policy-makers in a meaningful way is a global challenge. Thanks to funding from the Lloyd's Register Foundation, we are launching an international public engagement initiative. This exciting project will build on the Ri’s long history of public engagement and contribute to achieving our shared vision - A world where everyone is inspired to think more deeply about science and its place in our lives.

If you are successful in your application, you will be working closely alongside the Ri Leadership Team. You will take responsibility for running the project and the activities to establish and launch an international network for public engagement with scientific advancements and new technology. The network’s members will be leaders from across the scientific, business and social science communities. They will collaborate on the co-production and publication of a global manifesto, which will identify the key issues and priorities to increase engagement.
