Job Details

Energy is a fast changing and complex topic, with many different voices seeking to be heard. Are you someone who can turn excellent and complex ideas into great content and engaging communications? Does your strong understanding of the political narrative allow you to create compelling engagement strategies? If so, we want to hear from you.

The ADE’s vision is for a cost-effective, efficient, low-carbon, user-led energy system; a market in which our members can flourish. We need an effective communicator to broaden our reach and help us show how decentralised energy, led by customers and energy users, can deliver a lower cost and lower carbon energy system.

The Head of External Affairs’ responsibilities will include developing and delivering a communications and public affairs strategy; working across the organisation to develop key messages; communicating these messages to external and internal audiences; establishing relationships with members of the media and key stakeholders; and overseeing the production of related materials. This role will be a lynchpin in managing and funnelling the Association’s expertise out into the wider world.

The role will also be responsible for enhancing and promoting the organisation’s online presence, overseeing the production of external materials such as brochures, press releases, web copy, newsletters and executive presentations, and member communications.

We are looking for an individual who has a passion for and - preferably - experience in efficient, low-carbon, local energy. Someone who can shape and drive the Association’s communications and Parliamentary engagement activities so that our reach and recognition are enhanced.

The ideal candidate will combine experience in external affairs and a well developed network of media contacts with the ability to engage with and understand the complex policy areas in which we work.
