PLMR is a leading, fast-growing communications agency right in the heart of Westminster. This internship is available within the Mango at PLMR team – specialising in the education sector. With clients ranging from schools and multi-academy trusts, to edtech suppliers and associations, as a PR Intern you will assist the team in providing high quality servicing to our education clients. You will have a keen interest in public relations (PR) and how messages are best shaped and communicated across both old and new media, as well as a broad knowledge of public affairs (PA) and the UK political landscape.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be well motivated and able to work under pressure using your own initiative. You will have a can-do attitude and a passion for achieving results. You will also be active in the social media networking sphere and have an interest in developing your own networks within both political and media circles.

Job description:

• Creating editorial synopses for clients, and pitching out to the education press to secure articles
• Drafting articles, press releases, Q&As and case studies
• Repurposing existing articles into blog content
• Compiling media lists in support of a press release mailout
• ‘selling in’ press releases to journalists
• Supporting the creation of posts for social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook
• Scheduling social media content
• Contributing to meeting preparation in support of either the senior Mango at PLMR team or a client
• Working as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement the PR activity – ensuring we are always ‘adding value’ to our clients
• Involvement in PLMR New Business research and activities
• Monitoring political events of relevance to Mango at PLMR clients
• Producing policy briefings for PLMR clients
• Liaising with the office of an MPs or Ministers, and drafting letters if required
• Contributing to the drafting of media relations strategies
• Assisting with adhoc event management, including press conferences and promotional events
• Responding to requests for information from clients which may be at short notice
• Providing colleagues with general administrative support
