Job Title: Caseworker
Working For: Lyn Brown MP (West Ham)
Salary: In line with IPSA payscales
Lyn Brown MP is looking for a caseworker to join her busy office.
The position requires a person who is highly organised and committed to providing support for a busy MP in a fast moving working environment with a high volume of casework and with a clear focus on the needs of constituents.
You should be familiar with general office tasks, which will include answering the telephone, dealing with constituent enquiries, liaising with external agencies and drafting complex correspondence. Taking a proactive approach, dealing with enquiries efficiently and being able to prioritise a busy workload is essential.
You must have excellent written and IT skills and be able to take the initiative in a very busy and pressured office environment.
A knowledge and understanding of Parliament would be an advantage, as would a firm grasp of current, political issues. You must have a commitment to Labour Party values.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
