Job Title: Parliamentary Assistant - Part Time

Job Details

Job responsibilities will include:
• Undertake research
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, hansard, debates etc
• Respond to policy correspondence and enquiries
• Progress casework as required
• Provide admin support

This role is for a fixed term role of 24 Hours per week for 6 months, though this may be extended.

Required skills:
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
• A willingness to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
• Ability to prioritise and time manage workload
• Good analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Literate in Microsoft Office Suite and database use
• A sympathetic attitude towards the aims of the Conservative Party
• A keen interest in politics and current affairs
• Previous Parliamentary/political experience is preferred but not essential

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place immediately after the closing date. There will be a short written exercise to complete prior to interview. Start date will be as soon as possible after interview.
