Head of Campaigns & Research

Working within the Policy, Research, Communications and International team, the Head of Campaigns and Research will lead on developing and implementing campaigns and public affairs strategies. As well as managing a small team, the main focus of the role will be to continue to grow YMCA’s campaigning strength and effectiveness as well as to maintain and enhance YMCA’s position in the public affairs area.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing and managing campaigns; working with all areas of the organisation such as fundraising, retail and the wider YMCA Federation to ensure campaigns are properly developed, co-ordinated and implemented successfully. They will have a strong understanding of different campaigning techniques, particularly digitally based. The successful candidate will also lead on YMCA’s research work, ensuring it underpins its campaigning and public affairs work.

Reporting to the Director of Policy, Research, Communications & International, the successful candidate should have experience of advising senior leadership teams and boards as well as possess excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.

Senior Press Officer

Working within the Policy, Research, Communications and International team, the Senior Press Officer will lead on responding to all media and broadcast enquiries; producing relevant communications and media materials for use; proactively generating and selling in news and feature ideas that can positively promote the work of YMCA. The role will also involve regular monitoring and evaluation of levels of media coverage.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working within a media environment, successfully securing regular news, features and consumer coverage across UK media – print, online and broadcast. The successful candidate will also be experienced in developing a wide range of targeted communication materials and a strong record of managing media and communications campaigns. Possessing excellent written and oral communication skills the post holder will be able to work in a busy environment, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
