Job Details

As the Senior Member Services Officer, you’ll proactively support Council Members in all kinds of ways. You’ll be a senior member of our Councillors’ frontline team, with responsibility for managing their relationship with the public. Championing their reputation, you will represent Councillors’ views in communication with residents and other partners. You’ll draw Councillors’ attention to key issues, and manage and monitor progress of casework across all 20 wards in Westminster. Drawing on best practice from the commercial, public and voluntary sectors, you’ll work closely with colleagues internally and externally to coordinate support for Councillors, and to ensure the ward budget programme is delivered effectively. Along the way, you’ll line manage an apprentice, oversee the work of our Member Services Officer, and coach junior colleagues.

Together with a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) you’ll bring to the role a range of relevant experience. This will include providing strategic and operational support - ideally to politicians or senior officers - as well as delivering customer service, and managing projects and budgets. Able to absorb large amounts of information about a range of matters, you’re confident working without supervision and managing competing priorities to tight deadlines. Crucially, you are a skilled communicator and credible builder of relationships, with a flair for tact and diplomacy.

From an exceptional work/life balance to a competitive benefits package, we will ensure that you are well compensated for the time and effort you put into this thrilling team. But while that is of course an essential factor in your decision to join us, we hope that you will also enjoy the uniquely supportive team-spirit that we have established and the chance to pursue your long-term career goals with training and development opportunities.

Closing Date: 2 June 2019
