Job Title: Parliamentary Researcher/Caseworker

Job Details

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake research on Parliamentary and constituency matters
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current Parliamentary business
  • Respond to policy correspondence and enquiries
  • Progress casework as required to support other staff
  • Provide office administrative cover when Senior Parliamentary Assistant is not in the office
  • Monitor media coverage and brief the Member on relevant issues
  • Communications, including drafting local press releases, maintaining the Parliamentary website and social media

Candidates should have the following skills and qualities:

  • Previous Parliamentary/political experience is essential
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, and attention to detail, with an excellent standard of written English
  • A willingness to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
  • Excellent administrative and IT skills, as well as experience of working in small team
  • An empathetic and responsive approach to people
  • Be pro-active, with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload with minimum supervision
  • Excellent team working ethic
  • A sympathetic attitude towards the aims of the Conservative Party

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place in late May. There will likely be a short written exercise to complete prior to interview. Start date will be as soon as possible after interview.
