We are the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and we are at the heart of the movement to save the oceans, never more determined to create the actions that will make change happen for the future.
Mainstream media is supporting marine conservation with such intensity, and public awareness of the threats to the ocean is at unprecedented levels. MCS’s messages about our seas are now high on the agendas of policymakers. As positive and encouraging all this is, the fight is far from over. The stakes are high, so we cannot leave the future of our seas to chance.
We need an engaging and PR savvy individual to join us as Media Relations Manager to promote MCS to external audiences through broadcast, written media activities, external publications and content via digital communications.
**What you'll need:**
An eye for a story! You’ll have lots of examples showcasing your skill and style for writing articles, press releases and statements for a variety of audiences.
A proven ability to prepare well-written press releases & sell-in to the media, resulting in high levels of media take-up
Insight into the workings of the media and journalism, with the know-how to get media take-up and the widest reach for our content.
Great people skills.
An up-to-date and active understanding of news values.

The ability to work accurately and calmly under pressure, and stay responsive to changing deadlines and opportunities.
Comfortable working at a fast-pace, effectively managing your own workload and the expectations of stakeholders making requests.
An excellent standard of grammar and language.
An adaptable and positive outlook.
A desire to be part of an organisation with ambitious aims to make changes for the marine environment.
