Job Details

At Never Such Innocence we aim to give children and young people across the world a voice on war and conflict. We offer opportunities to reflect on conflict throughout history and today through a poetry, art, song and speeches competition.

The charity began as a First World War commemoration project for children and young people. Over 11,000 young people from 47 different countries, territories and dependencies created poetry, artwork, and songs inspired by this conflict. From 2019 we have expanded our focus to include conflict in all forms and throughout history, up to and including the present day.

We are looking for an ambitious and passionate Operations Director to work in partnership with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees to meet and exceed the charity’s aims and objectives. You will lead on exciting national and international projects to deliver the Never Such Innocence Competition and Roadshow encouraging young people to process, respond to, and reflect on all forms of conflict throughout history.

To date Never Such Innocence works with young people in 47 countries, territories and dependencies across five continents. There are three key elements to Never Such Innocence: we run a creative arts competition; produce educational resources; and, hold community events and provide opportunities to participate in unique occasions.

Never Such Innocence is a small close-knit team dedicated to giving children and young people opportunities to reflect on conflict, and a platform to amplify their voices. You will play a key role in driving the strategic direction of the charity and will have proven experience of project management and delivery. The role includes regular travel across the UK.
