Job Details

About the role

We are looking for an energised Programme Officer to join our team on the Tower Hamlets Communities Driving Change programme. You will be working alongside local people in the north-west of the borough, supporting them to design and deliver a range of community projects aimed at improving health and wellbeing – locally and systemically.

You will be responsible for conducting ongoing engagement and supporting existing and new resident groups to drive change, as defined by them, through a range of different community-led initiatives/activities. This will involve relationship-building, connecting people with the skills, tools and networks they need, and always feeding in to the bigger picture – exploring what local initiatives show us about a wider potential for change.

About You

You will have experience working on the ground, supporting people from diverse backgrounds to design and lead sustainable community projects – from idea to execution. You will have excellent people skills and feel confident interacting with a variety of different stakeholders; including residents, local groups, and organisations across the voluntary and public sectors. You will be creative, resilient and energised in your approach to ensuring the success of a variety of community-led ideas for change; understanding your role in holding space and making connections where needed.

You will have demonstrable experience of designing and facilitating creative and engaging community workshops, activities and events which prioritise the lived experience and expertise of local people looking to improve their communities.

You will also have experience of coordinating multiple projects, competing priorities, managing volunteers, and working as part of a team to ensure excellent project deliverables.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates local to Tower Hamlets. Fluency in a community language is preferable.
