Job Details

The Social Market Foundation (SMF) is a non-partisan think tank. We believe that fair markets, complemented by open public services, increase prosperity and help people to live well. We conduct research and run events looking at a wide range of economic and social policy areas, focusing on economic prosperity, public services and consumer markets.

We are currently recruiting for two new roles to join the team:

Events Officer (in the region of £27,000 per annum):

We are looking for an experienced candidate to help manage our busy events programme, which brings senior politicians, civil servants, academics and business leaders together to discuss public policy.

Reporting to the Head of Events and Partnerships, the Events Officer will assist with the project and operational management of the SMF’s events in Westminster and at the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Conservative autumn party conferences.

Research Officer (London Living Wage):

The SMF runs a research internship programme designed to provide successful candidates with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a public policy environment. SMF internships are well known for their high quality and their emphasis on providing interns with a solid grounding in public policy research methods.

The Research Intern will be an integral member of the research team, contributing to SMF policy projects. The successful candidate will have the chance to gain experience in all the main areas of our work, from engaging in policy discussions, to research and analysis, through to policy development and communications. Our current projects span consumer markets, economic growth and productivity, education, skills and social mobility, and health and social care.
