IPPR Scotland, Scotland’s progressive think tank is looking to recruit a Researcher to join our growing team in Edinburgh. We exist to contribute to a more progressive Scotland, by undertaking well-researched analysis and developing new creative policy ideas and solutions.

IPPR Scotland is a cross-party and non-profit think tank with charitable status. We are an autonomous part of IPPR across the UK, alongside IPPR North based in Manchester and Newcastle and IPPR in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the few think tanks based in Scotland.

The Researcher post will work across a range of projects, considering the key public policy issues facing Scotland today. Duties will include: conducting research, writing reports, contributing to project development, building networks and assisting with events.

To be successful you will have proven research skills, a keen interest in politics and good understanding of public policy in Scotland and the UK. You will have excellent written communication skills and proven interpersonal skills. With the ability to manage your workload to meet deadlines, you will combine a strong attention to detail with the ability to think creatively and imaginatively. You will also be able to demonstrate a keen commitment to the work and values of IPPR.

IPPR is committed to equality of opportunity. As an organisation engaging in critical debate about a wide range of progressive policy issues, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and especially from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates who are currently under-represented at IPPR.

As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post, including part-time hours. All options can be discussed at interview stage.
