These are challenging but exciting times for public services. We are looking for a highly motivated person with enthusiasm and ideas to work flexibly in a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.

These two posts will work in the Enterprise, Economy and Skills team on a range of policy projects including: employment services, the devolved Work and Health Programme in London, promoting inclusive economic growth, apprenticeships and skills, including the devolved Adult Education Budget, and promoting the role of arts and culture in place-shaping. You will have experience of contributing to policy development, with a good understanding of local government and its place in a complex policy landscape.

The role will require that you analyse policy and statistical information, commission research, draft reports and provide concise policy recommendations to support London boroughs in making London a better city. You will apply this analysis and policy development to improve results for Londoners and to make London’s case to both central government and other key stakeholders.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate who can build effective relationships across sectors, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of partners, and who has experience of creative problem solving and managing a varied workload in a pressurised environment.

The role will give you the opportunity to apply your talents with a degree of autonomy to help develop potential solutions to some of the most interesting challenges that local government is likely to face over the next five years.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that London’s councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses.
