We are looking for a Research & Policy Manager to join our rapidly expanding team in the membership association for independent healthcare providers, supporting our members through a period of major political and policy change.

Role and purpose

IHPN is the membership body for independent healthcare providers. Our members deliver primary, community, diagnostic, hospital, and specialist services to both NHS and private patients across the UK. IHPN provides a range of services to our members, including by playing a key role in the policy making process through engagement with stakeholders including government, NHS England, and healthcare regulators. This is particularly important at a time of major political and policy change for independent healthcare providers.

In this newly created role the Policy & Research Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network’s policy and research work. They will play a key role in ensuring that IHPN has a strong voice in the policy making process at national level through the formulation of high quality, well informed policy positions and outputs on issues of relevance to members. They will deliver key research projects to generate information and insights for members and about the independent health sector.

The Policy & Research Manager will work closely with the Director of Policy and Chief Executive to shape IHPN’s policy work programme. They will formulate policy positions in consultation with members and identify opportunities to influence the policy making process.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of policy work in a relevant context, including good knowledge of healthcare issues. They will have excellent written communication skills, strong research capabilities, and an ability to distil complex information into easy to understand messages. They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with external stakeholders at a senior level including IHPN members, NHS national bodies, regulators and think tanks. They will be able to work successfully with a high degree of autonomy as part of our friendly team.
