About the role
There are seismic shifts happening across the UK - from demographic change, to technological revolution, from the changing demands of the labour market, to evolving attitudes and expectations of individuals. If we are to meet these challenges, then colleges will have to be at the heart of this.

The Independent Commission on the College of the Future brings together senior experts and sector leaders from across the UK to ask: what do we want and need from our colleges in ten years’ time? Chaired by Sir Ian Diamond, the Commission was successfully launched in March 2019 and has received a positive reception from key decision-makers and influencers across the UK.

The Commission will be producing a final report in Spring 2020, with clear recommendations and an implementation plan for each of the four nations of the UK. The Commission process will involve extensive stakeholder and public engagement, including through a programme of events and communication outputs throughout the year.
The Communications and Projects Manager will play a central role within a high-profile and high-impact project and will bring an innovative and fresh approach to developing our communications, programmes and events throughout the year. Being a new role in a new project, it provides significant development opportunities and the ability to achieve significant impact.

About you
You will be excited about the capacity for achieving meaningful change that the role offers and will be able to hit the ground running. You will have strong communications and project management experience and will be full of ideas as to how we can effectively engage with key audiences.
You will have good attention to detail and will be able to work effectively on your own initiative – as well as working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including at a very senior level.
The Independent Commission on the College of the Future has been established with the support of a wide range of organisations in the FE and skills sector: the Association of Colleges (AoC), Colleges Scotland, Colleges Wales, FETL, Jisc, City and Guilds, NCFE, NOCN and Pearson.
