Prospectus is delighted to be supporting The Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG) as they look to recruit their new Head of Communications and Public Affairs. This role will be home based with regular travel to the London area to meet with colleagues.

You will be in charge of ensuring the organisation's communication and public affairs strategy, which aims to increase their influence with local and national policy makers, is successfully delivered. This will include delivering all messaging to members and the wider public, as well as ensuring member views inform the organisation's core messaging and that internal communications are fit for purpose.

The successful candidate with be a proactive, autonomous communications professional with demonstrable experience of working in similar roles. This includes a strong understanding of how policy development and public affairs work, with the ability to be able to influence key government and parliamentary proceedings. You will have experience with the media, including writing briefs and press releases, as well as strong networking skills and the ability to influence in a professional and collaborative manner. As the sole communications professional, you must have a real team spirit and a key eye for detail.
