Helen Whately is looking for an office manager for her Westminster office.
The ideal candidate will be a strong written and verbal communicator, with excellent organisational ability and sound political judgement. They will have the ability to organise their own workload and plenty of initiative. Relevant experience is essential as Helen is looking for someone who can hit the ground running. Previous employment in a parliamentary or public affairs role would be particularly useful.
This job can be flexible around caring responsibilities. Some travel to the constituency will be required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing Helen’s parliamentary inbox
- Ownership of the Westminster diary
- Building relationships with local and national stakeholders
- Writing, editing and managing Helen’s correspondence
- Driving Helen’s local and national campaigns
- Providing policy advice and supporting research tasks
- Compliance with data protection legislation
- Managing expenses and office budgets
- Making sure the office is fully stocked with stationery and other supplies
The successful candidate will have:
- A high standard of written communication
- Relevant experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and motivation to pursue Helen’s campaigns
- A keen interest in politics
- The ability to work with and manage a team
- Excellent organisation
- Integrity and discretion
- Sympathy for the aims and values of the Conservative Party
