Being a Mobile Surveillance Officer at MI5 is about gathering the intelligence we need to help keep our country safe. It’s a role that will constantly challenge and test your skills, while teaching you new ones. Think driving, map reading, observation and generally being street smart. Not all of these can be learnt in a class room. Instead, you’ve got them through your agile thinking and keen attention to detail.

What you might not realise is that you already have the skills to excel in this job. You do it when you drive your kids to school, or text your friends while following the plot to your favourite show. Your patience will help you stay focused even when nothing’s happening, and be ready when something does. And, by bringing those acute observation and multi-tasking skills, you’ll follow subjects, identify important information, and accurately report it back to your team.

Most of the work will happen in Greater London, but you’ll also get the chance to travel extensively around the UK. Wherever you are, you’ll have the full support of your team. And before you’re even on the ground, we’ll make sure you have all the training you need to keep safe while gathering key intelligence.
