Can you lead Macmillan’s policy and influencing activity on health and care-related issues? We are looking for an experienced and influential Head of Policy and Influence to create and implement a programme of policy development and stakeholder influencing that will maximise our impact in improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.

About the role – Head of Policy and Influencing (Health and Care)
Reporting to the Director of Policy, Campaigns and Influence, you will lead policy development in key areas of the health and care field with an overview across the UK’s four nations. Working with key stakeholders, including our Evidence & Insight team as well as people living with cancer, you will lead your team to develop and pursue influencing strategies to enable change in line with organisational strategy, developing key positions on our priority influencing areas.

In conjunction with communications colleagues, you will act as a media spokesperson and senior external representative, sharing thought leadership and enabling Macmillan to be a key player with influential audiences. You will also horizon scan and plan for future developments in the policy field to ensure Macmillan is at the forefront of emerging policy thinking and development.

About you
You will have significant experience in a senior policy and influencing role at a national level in the health or care fields (or a closely related area). Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering proactive and reactive influencing strategies and the ability to gauge potential impact of policy change are essential.

A highly skilled communicator you will have experience of representing a large organisation effectively with senior external stakeholders and the media. You will also be a strong leader of both projects and people with the capability of managing complex cross-organisational initiatives as well as motivating and developing a high performing team.
