Alistair Carmichael MP is seeking to recruit a Parliamentary Assistant and Communications Officer to join his team. The successful applicant will be expected to assist Mr Carmichael in the full range of his parliamentary duties but will lead on and take ownership of his communications involving correspondence with constituents and communication through print, broadcast and online media outlets. They will also take leadership on his parliamentary campaigns including on plastic pollution, human rights in Xinjiang, and support him in his capacity as spokesperson on Environment Food and Rural Affairs. The ability to communicate clearly with a good standard of written English is essential.

Funding is available for a full-time position but applications will be considered from those seeking part-time or job share employment. The successful applicant would be based in the House of Commons.

Sympathy with the aims and policies of the Liberal Democrats is desirable.
