Job Title: Constituency Support Officer
Working For: Rt Hon Geoffrey Cox QC MP (Torridge and West Devon)
Location: Torridge and West Devon
Salary: In line with IPSA payscales (pro-rata for three days per week)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to become a Constituency Support Officer for Geoffrey Cox MP in his Tavistock office.
The role involves representing the MP at constituency meetings, dealing with enquiries from members of the public, taking responsibility for the MPs social media presence and creating campaigns on local issues.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Attending meetings and events on behalf of the MP.
- Ensuring the Member is accurately informed on key issues and is aware of trends.
- Liaising with community groups to take forward the MP’s objectives and issues.
- Dealing with daily queries from members of the public by phone or in person, taking the appropriate initial action to resolve, document or escalate their concerns or enquiries.
In addition, you will be required to retain records and information confidentially in line with GDPR, and you will be expected to work on your own initiative.
Professionalism, diplomacy and political awareness are essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car.
The role is offered on a part-time basis for three days per week.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
