At the University of Manchester Students' Union, our mission is to be the voice of students at Manchester, effecting change and enriching student life together. To help us fulfil this mission, we’re excited to offer this vacancy for a Campaigns and Democracy Manager to lead on this vital work for us.

Led/driven by a team of 8 elected student officers, campaigning and democracy are an essential part of the union’s work in ensuring that students are able to bring about change on campus, locally and nationally. The Campaigns and Democracy Manager role aims to provide leadership in developing a consistent and coordinated approach to campaigning and democracy in the union, underpinned by an active commitment to liberation and diversity in all Union activity, ensuring students are at the heart of and informing all these areas of work.

You may not have worked in Higher Education or the Student movement before, but whatever your background you’ll have proven skills and experience in creating impactful campaigns, working with/within democratic structures and a true commitment and knowledge of liberation and equality issues. You’ll be experienced in managing staff and have a belief in coaching people to get the best out of them. With a focus on student led and outcome focused working, you’ll be responsible for leading and managing an effective and impactful campaigns, for delivering our democratic structures and helping embed and deliver the organisation’s Diversity and Liberation strategy and enabling the strategy’s ambitions to be realised for students.

As a member of the Education and Advocacy team, you’ll play a hands-on role in delivering our ambitions to effect positive change for our students and engage them in shaping the future of the UK’s largest student union.
