We are looking for an inspiring, high-profile Director to lead on our work with marginalised communities, helping us grow our impact nationally and internationally. The DO will take over the operational and academic responsibilities from the Founder, Dr. Theo Gavrielides who has acted as the Institute's Director since its inception.

THE ROLE

The Director will work with the Board and the Founder, Professor Gavrielides, to ensure that the Institute delivers its charitable objects, and continues to pursue its stated vision and mission.

The DO's role is split into two key areas (a) Academic leadership (b) Chief Operating Officer. The DO will work with the Founder, who will be covering the third key area of fundraising. The Director will be line managed by the collective body of the Board and be a member of the Finance committee and the HR committee.

The Academic Leadership role

Historically, IARS has covered three areas of work (a) human rights and equality (b) young people (c) criminal justice. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the quality and research direction of IARS’ current programmes, while driving new ideas and projects.

Chief Operating Officer role

The DO will act as IARS' Chief Operating Officer: (a) Company Secretary and governance (b) Human Resources (c) Financial & Funding Management.

• Permanent contract (6-month probation)
• 2-3 days per week for the first three months, and 4 days per week thereafter
• 24 days annual leave plus the Bank Holiday (pro rated)
