This is an exciting time to lead MDXSU’s Student Advocacy and Policy team which advises supports and represents the diverse views, opinions and experiences of students at Middlesex. We launched our new Partnership Agreement with the university in June 2019 through which we will be able to agree three areas of work to collaborate with the university on each year.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team to implement changes to our democratic processes following a full democracy review earlier this year,, overseei the union’s constitutional obligations and work with other teams across Membership Services to plan our exciting democratic calendar, including organising multiple elections.

Having built up a strong partnership with Middlesex University the post holder will focus on improving the impact of student representation at every level of decision-making within the university to improve student experiences for our diverse student community at Middlesex.

The Student Advocacy and Policy Manager will continue the growth of MDXSU’s Advice Service ensuring students know they can access independent support and guidance when they come into difficulties whilst studying. To be successful in this role you will have a passion for student-led leadership, a keen interest in both academic policy and the higher education sector, and a strong record of delivering multiple projects at any give time.

Job Purpose

  1. Responsible for the line management of the Student Advocacy and Policy Team
  2. Lead on operational planning, team KPIs, measuring strategic progress of the work produced by the Student Advocacy and Policy Team and contribute to MDXSU's strategic planning.
  3. Play a key role within the organisational Management Team to ensure collaborative working across the students' union in order to fulfill the strategic plan.
