Job Title: Public Affairs & Campaigns Adviser

Salary: £37,412 per annum (including London Weighting)
Fixed term opportunity until 10 July 2020
About the role
We are looking to recruit to the position of Public Affairs and Campaigns Adviser. The successful candidate will work with colleagues from across the LGA to enhance the political influence and profile of our association and local government. This includes supporting our work influencing parliamentary debates, parliamentary committees and legislation in order to secure positive change on behalf of councils. The post holder is also responsible for helping to support local government to engage with Parliament, including briefing senior LGA members and officials ahead of parliamentary inquiries and as part of the LGA’s engagement at conferences.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience of having worked in a fast moving political, parliamentary, and/or public affairs environment, managing a diverse workload and completing projects on tight deadlines. A strong and practical understanding of parliamentary procedure is essential. You will need outstanding communication skills and be highly organised. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player and to be able to develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
