PLEASE NOTE - THIS ADVERT IS FOR TWO JOBS IN THE STOKE-ON-TRENT OFFICE

IT IS ENVISAGED THAT THE CONSTITUENCY SUPPORT OFFICER WILL BE A PART TIME POSITION (UP TO 26 HOURS PER WEEK), AND THE CONSTITUENCY ASSISTANT WILL BE FULL TIME

Responsibilities (Constituency Support Officer)

  • Liaise with and meet community groups and resident associations
  • Assist with resolving cases relating to community and campaign issues.
  • Liaise with groups/personnel at Westminster, within the constituency and the general public as necessary.
  • Deal with complex queries and complaints on the MPs' behalf;
  • Assist with arrangements for parliamentary and constituency events including coffee mornings, street surgeries and community drop-in events;
  • Respond to enquiries by telephone and email, working with the wider team to ensure constituents receive an appropriate response;
  • Ensure effective communication of constituency work via online platforms

Responsibilities (Constituency Assistant)

  • Support constituency activities
  • Assist with constituency communications including the drafting of press releases, parliamentary materials and general correspondence
  • Provide research briefings on a range of key policy areas
  • Help to organise MP-led local events, and support constituency commitments
  • Respond to enquiries by telephone and email, working with the wider team to ensure constituents receive an appropriate response;

Person specification:

  • Excellent written, verbal and IT skills
  • Efficient and well-organised
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of the office team
  • Experienced in dealing with a broad range of people in an empathetic manner
  • A good knowledge of the Potteries
  • Political awareness and a commitment to the values of the Labour Party
  • Driving licence preferable
