Job Details

Who are we?

Independent Higher Education is the UK membership organisation and national representative body for independent providers of higher education, professional training and pathways.

We offer a 10% employer contribution into your pension and our offices in Russell Square have a café onsite. As an employer, it’s important to us that working for us works for you. We are open to working flexibly, whether that means from home, part time or on non-standard hours. Maybe you have caring commitments, maybe you’re studying or maybe you just want to take a long lunch break so you can go to the gym – we’d consider any arrangement you suggest. We are an office politics free zone so there are huge opportunities to get your ideas heard and scope to develop and learn about all of our activities.

The role

You’ll be the first point of contact for all our members and prospective members, resolving their queries and keeping all the admin and records in order. You’ll also support our regular meetings of member groups (about 3 per month) by liaising with Chairs, sorting venues etc. You will also help to organise larger events such as training sessions and our Annual Conference. You’ll update the website, social media, and will also be our webinar administrator (about 2 webinars per month). Additionally, you’ll help the senior team out with a bit of diary management; arranging meetings and phone calls. If you are more experienced (and as you become more experienced), there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility and get stuck into other areas.

Who are you?

As a member of a small team, it’s essential that you bring bags of initiative - you see what needs to be done and do it. You will need to be personable and able to build friendly professional relationships with our members, especially senior staff such as principals of colleges who regularly call the office. You’ll be organised and enthusiastic (even about admin!). You’ll need to be precise with great attention to detail and most importantly, flexible and agile as there’s lots to be done in all areas of our work. Ideally, you’ll have some experience of this kind of role, and in any case, you’ll be eager to learn our processes and systems.

Closing Date: 30 September 2019
