About the job
Arts SU Advice Service provides free, independent academic and housing advice to students at the University of the Arts London. This ranges from responding to one off enquiries to conducting more in-depth casework. You will support students through times of difficulty and help empower them to exercise their rights.
We are expanding our services to ensure we’re reaching students across our colleges. As part of this expansion you will work with colleagues and partners to increase our outreach to students, finding new ways of working which ensures we’re providing accessible, impactful advice at each site.
The advice service sits in the wider advice and policy team. You’ll work with policy colleagues to help identify and solve recurrent issues affecting both specific demographics of students and the whole UAL community.
You will provide face to face advice appointments/drop-in sessions at the various UAL Colleges across London. Your work will be supervised by the Advice and Policy Manager however College outreach will often be undertaken alone and you will take responsibility for managing your own caseload.
Who we are looking for?
We’re looking for a positive, enthusiastic and determined individual, preferably with experience in the higher education sector, to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have experience of advice provision (either academic or housing). You will understand the importance of confidentiality and possess excellent communication skills. You will be empathetic, positive in the face of adversity, solution-focused and motivated by achieving great outcomes for students.
You should be confident to bring new ideas to the table which will help us deliver the best service possible for our students.
If you have any queries or wish to have an informal chat about the role, please contact Colum Mackey, Advice and Policy Manger, at c.mackey@su.arts.ac.uk
