36 hours per week based at County Hall, Penrhyn Road, Kingston upon Thames.

About the role
An opportunity to work at the heart of Surrey's democracy has become available. The post involves working with Cabinet Members, Committee Chairmen and Senior Officers on a daily basis administering the Council's decision making committees.
The role of a Democratic Services Assistant is challenging and varied. Working alongside other colleagues in Democratic Services, you will assist in managing the work of a number of the County Council's select committees and regulatory committees. This will involve providing administrative support to meetings, preparing committee agendas, reports and minutes, and participating in other activities to support the County Council's democratic processes.
Knowledge of, and enthusiasm for government and politics is preferable along with excellent organisational and communication skills. We need a team player with the capability to build strong relationships and to develop excellent minute-writing skills. The ability to manage a diverse workload to deadlines and to work collaboratively will be vital. You will also need sound judgement, political sensitivity and a creative, innovative approach to work.
