Richard Graham is looking for an experienced Parliamentary Researcher particularly interested in economic sectors, international affairs and project work to join his Westminster office and support his work in making Gloucester the Best Small City in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help Richard in his Trade Envoy roles, planning meetings, briefings trips, research and attending meetings with him or on his behalf with eg Embassies and UK officials
  • Help Richard in his roles as Chairs of the WFD, member of the Brexit Select Committee and Trustee of the Parliamentary Pension Fund: with board/committee papers, briefings and social media and attending meetings with him of on his behalf with eg Select Committee officials, foreign parliaments/parliamentarians
  • Draft parliamentary questions and replies to constituency correspondence on all foreign issues and issues within the scope of FCO, DIFID, Defence, DIT, HMT and Transport
  • Lead on specific Gloucester projects and especially on Rail/Station related issues
  • Manage Richard’s London diary
  • Draft website media and social media, liaise with media on tv/radio articles and appearances
  • Organise Facebook Live events
  • Manage the APPG for Indonesia
  • Work closely with a part time co-ordinator for the China APPG and another researcher predominately focused on domestic and social policy including the environment, education and health
  • Liaise with an Office Manager based in Gloucester

The successful candidate will have the following attribute/abilities

  • Great flexibility in responding to events
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen interest in politics and current affairs
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong research and IT skills
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party
  • Knowledge of Gloucester/Gloucestershire a bonus
