About the role
This is a great opportunity to join the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games as a Government Relations Manager, to develop proactive relationships with local and national government. The post holder will create and deliver strategies that engage our political audiences in Birmingham, West Midlands and in Westminster whilst ensuring they understand and support Birmingham 2022’s objectives. This role will be reporting directly to the Head of Communications.
You will plan and deliver a Government Relations strategy for the Organising Committee (OC) which engages Westminster and Local Government elected members to ensure Birmingham, England and UK political environment is conductive to Birmingham 2022 delivering an outstanding Games. You will also deliver engagement activities with key political audiences in line with the overall Communications Strategy.
You will have exceptional knowledge and understanding of the UK political landscape and a strong political and parliamentarian network of contacts in Birmingham and across the west Midlands.
Experience in a similar role in a major event environment would be well-regarded.
The successful candidate will have successful approaches and strategies for effective stakeholder communications, engagement and management.
You will be creative and have a ‘can do’ attitude that enables you to work in a fast-paced environment, frequently under pressure, on multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
You must be resilient with an effective approach to resolving challenges and identifying solutions.
Educated to degree level in an associated discipline.
