The Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria, in collaboration with partners, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader to head up a new Violence Prevention Unit in Northumbria. Funded through the Home Office Serious Violence fund, the Unit will be a high profile, high priority programme for policing and partners. It is a new post, providing visionary strategic leadership to the development of a long term multi-sector violence prevention strategy across Northumbria using public health approaches.

We are looking for candidates with a strong understanding and experience of public health working to establish, lead and direct this new Violence Reduction Unit where you will be bringing together a diverse range of partner organisations to work in collaboration with our communities to provide cross sector strategic direction on violence prevention and early intervention.

This post is a pivotal senior leadership position in the partnership between the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, key partners in health, criminal justice, policing, education and other services across Northumbria which due to its high profile will involve a considerable amount of stakeholder management, requiring significant influencing skills.
