Job Details

The National Housing Federation is the voice of affordable housing in England. We work at the forefront of the political debate not only on housing but also on a wide range of other policy issues including homelessness, welfare and planning. Our work affects the lives of millions of people across the country. Our members manage 99% of housing association homes in England, and united in the belief that everyone should have the good quality home they need at a price they can afford.

Effective lobbying is key to everything we do. We have built close working relationships at the most senior levels of politics and have established ourselves as the ‘go-to’ body on housing issues for Ministers and Shadow Ministers. We welcomed the Prime Minister to our annual Summit last year, and secured an announcement of £2bn for new social and affordable homes. We have succeeded in placing the future funding of supported housing on a stable footing, and campaigned successfully to end no-DSS policies.

We need you to help support our Public Affairs and PR teams in their influencing work. You will play a crucial role in the teams’ delivery of influencing strategies, including data management and events; in the running of a busy press office; and the production of engagement digital content.

We don't need you to be a housing expert. But you will possess a keenness to collaborate with, and learn from, colleagues. You should possess an understanding of the UK political environment, and familiarity with social media platforms. Good writing skills and organisation will put you in good stead.

This is an exciting role with the potential to make a real difference. If you’re up for the challenge, then we would very much like to hear from you.

The Federation is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and we value the contribution each individual makes to our work. We are committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the diversity of the society in which we live and encourage applications from people of all different backgrounds, regardless of all protected characteristics or social background.

We are a disability confident employer and if you are a disabled person who meets the skills and experience we consider essential for the role, we will offer you an interview.
