Are you keen to join a high-profile and award-winning department which saves lives through influencing cancer policy across the UK and Europe?
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research and is in a unique position to influence policy across the UK and Europe. CRUK’s goal is to raise survival to 3 in 4 over the next 20 years. To achieve this we will require a focus on funding and supporting the best research into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer, and ensuring that the findings of this research are translated into benefit for patients as quickly as possible. It is therefore essential that we keep cancer high on the political agenda in the UK and Europe.

CRUK’s policy development team works across cancer research and health policy, developing evidence-based policy positions to inform Government decisions related to cancer and research and communicating these to key decision makers.
Our priorities include improving the early diagnosis of cancer, improving access to treatments for people diagnosed with cancer, and supporting the UK research environment.

What is the role?
We are looking for an ambitious individual to…

  • Identify, research and develop positions on CRUK’s policy priorities
  • Build links with the policy, healthcare professional and research community, and internally to assist with the development of policy positions and research proposals as required
  • Develop expertise in issues relevant to CRUK policy priorities
  • Communicate the charity’s position on policy issues to Government, policy-makers and other stakeholders – including working with public affairs, campaigns and press colleagues to communicate to Parliamentarians and the public.
