The BVRLA seek a Head of Policy & Public Affairs to drive forward the policy agenda, leading on development across several high-profile policy areas.

The British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association (BVRLA) is one of the UK's leading automotive trade associations. At the heart of the revolution in the way vehicles are powered, used and managed, the sector is helping to transform the way society thinks about road transport. BVRLA members own and operate more than five million cars, vans and trucks, and are responsible for nearly 50% of all new vehicles sold each year. They operate the cleanest and most technologically advanced fleet in the UK and need someone to tell their story.

This senior, Head of function role, is a fantastic opportunity to drive the policy agenda at the BVRLA, campaigning across a range of vital issues including electric vehicles, air quality, future mobility, road safety and consumer protection. Leading a talented, highly motivated and supportive team of three policy and public affairs professionals, you will be responsible for setting a strategic direction and maintaining proactive relationships with members, senior industry stakeholders, policymakers and regulators.

Professional Requirements:

  • Degree level or equivalent education
  • A background working in policy formulation and delivery
  • Good understanding of how the UK's political system functions
  • An understanding of a range of campaigning and lobbying tools and techniques
  • Excellent writing skills
  • A track record of leading and motivating a small team
  • Excellent presentation skills in one-to-one and group situations
