Alex Chalk MP is looking for a full-time Constituency Assistant to be based in his busy constituency office in Cheltenham. Please note, this role is maternity cover. Responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing patterns of enquiries and producing reports
  • Attending surgeries and other meetings as appropriate
  • Dealing with standard queries from members of the public
  • Drafting responses to constituents
  • Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Logging all cases; monitoring progress and ensuring all identified actions are taken
  • Assisting with the progression of a casework portfolio
  • Retaining records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act

Required experience/skills:

  • Parliamentary experience in a similar role desirable
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Motivation to provide high quality service to constituents
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to assess and analyse large volumes of information quickly and accurately
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
